The Premier League confirms 2012/2013 Fixtures
Wednesday 13th June 2012
The draw for the Premier Division fixtures for the 2012/2013 season was conducted at the home of PSL today.

The League season will kick off on the second week of August 2012. Defending champions, Orlando Pirates will kick of their title defence against Golden Arrows at home

PSL General Manager of football Derek Blanckensee, who conducted the draw said that PSL was looking forward to the new season in a few weeks time.

Explaining the draw, Blanckensee said: “One of the principles to be applied during the Fixture draw is the Bundesliga philosophy regarding promoted teams.

“It says: In order to give the promoted teams a reasonable opportunity to find their feet at the higher level we ensure that they do not play more than one of last year’s top three teams in their first three matches.”

There are a number of thrilling encounters on the first weeks of the league campaign. Moroka Swallows, who finished as runners-up, will travel to Rustenburg to play Platinum Stars. Swallows lost the league title race on the last day of the season.

SuperSport United who finished third, face a stern away test against Ajax Cape Town meanwhile Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs will battle against AmaZulu in Durban.

Newly-promoted University of Pretoria will face Maritzburg United at home.
